1. What is Office 365?
Office 365 is a user-based subscription that provides organizations access to Microsoft Office applications and hosted solutions that are always up to date.
2. Is Office 365 Office Standard or Office Professional Plus in the Cloud?
Office 365 is not Office Standard or Office Professional Plus offered through the cloud. It is a user-based subscription offering that allows end users to install Office Standard or Office Professional Plus on-premises up to 5 times on various devices and platforms.
3. Can I buy the services separately?
Yes, you can buy all Office 365 services separately. Office, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business and Lync Online can all be sold separately.
4. Can I mix plans?
Yes, you can mix and match plans. For instance, you can have Business with Exchange Online, or Professional Plus and Business. There will be limitations on administration options when mixing Business and Professional Plus, such as group policy, telemetry, and RDS functionality.
5. Can I run my own on-premises Exchange/SharePoint/Lync servers alongside the Office 365 services?
Yes, you can have hybrid deployments for the Enterprise plans only: E1, E3 and E4. In some cases, such as E4, a hybrid deployment is required to access functionality, such as Enterprise Voice.
6. What kind of commitments do you have with respect to security and privacy?
On behalf of Office 365, we are willing to sign a data processing agreement, security amendment, HIPAA business associate agreement, and the EU model clauses with each customer. 7. How do you ensure that your service is reliable?
We apply best practices in design and operations, such as redundancy, resiliency, distributed services, and monitoring—to name a few. We recently started publishing our quarterly uptime numbers for the service. The uptime number for the most recent quarter is 99.97%. For more information, please visit the Service Continuity

8. What are your commitments regarding keeping my service up?
We offer 99.9% uptime via a financially backed service level agreement. If a customer experiences monthly uptime that is less than 99.9%.
